Faroe Islands - Reduced To Ash - Nihil

Reduced To Ash is a melodic metal band from Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. Formed in 2012 by guitar player and vocalist Eyðun Hvannastein and and drummer Edvin Niclasen, the goal was to compete at the Faroese Wacken Metal Battle in 2013. Bárður Joensen joined the band as guitar player and not soon after Ólavur á Skipagøtu joined as bass player.

The band did not win the contest, but recieved very good reviews from various websites and a great feedback from the crowd. After a few gigs a four-track demo was recorded and released for free on the internet. In 2014 Reduced To Ash was asked to perform at the Faroese Music Awards and gained national attention.

Recording sessions for their debut album started later that year. The first single has been released in late May 2015, and the album will be out this fall.

The band takes influences from a variety of music and metal genres. The sound has been described as melodeath with an apocalyptic feel. Progressive rhythms, hard riffing and intense melodies mixed with brutal growls.
